2014 NSW Primary Schools Championships

COACH’S PERSPECTIVE

Padstow Park Public School entered the 2014 NSW Primary Schools Championships for its sixth year. There were 14 primary schools that entered the competition in 3 categories (Infant, Junior & Senior), 63 teams with a total of 126 competitors.

We have 2 senior teams this year, our first senior team Samuel Luo and Vuong Pham was victorious in the round robin defeated two experienced school teams. They were seeded number 1 in the senior category being the 2013 Junior Champions. Their team had a bye and straight into quarter-final and defeated Eastwood Public School. Unfortunately they were just defeated by an experienced team Beecroft Public School in the semi-final. They were unlucky as Samuel was leading in third set, but nervous & pressure resulted a few errors. They took Bronze Medal for PPPS.

Our second senior team Perry Alexaks and Noah Vando played to the best of their ability defeated two experienced school teams in round robin. They advanced to the knockout round, but they had a bad draw playing against the number 1 team Maroubra Junction Public School. Perry & Noah showed great sportsmanship congratulating the other players when defeated.

I felt this year standards are much higher as the sport become more popular in schools.

We would like to thanks Mrs. Alexaks who helped out with transport and supported our players during and after their games.
